How much do influencers really earn?
'How much do you actually earn as an influencer?' The honest answer is: it varies enormously. Anywhere between a few euros and five-figure sums per post is possible. What makes the difference isn't just your follower count, but engagement, niche and how professionally you present yourself. What individual platforms pay per view or per diamond, you can work out directly with our creator earnings calculator.
Benchmarks by follower count
As a rough guide for a sponsored Instagram post, the following ranges have become established in the industry. They aren't a law, just a reference point:
- Nano (1,000 to 10,000): often products or roughly 10 to 100 euros per post.
- Micro (10,000 to 50,000): roughly 100 to 500 euros per post.
- Mid-tier (50,000 to 250,000): roughly 500 to 2,500 euros per post.
- Macro (250,000 to 1 million): roughly 2,500 to 10,000 euros per post.
- Mega (over 1 million): from 10,000 euros upward.
These numbers are deliberately broad. A nano creator in a high-spending niche (e.g. finance or B2B software) can charge more than a macro creator in a broad, barely commercial niche.
Why engagement counts more than reach
An account with 8,000 followers and 6% engagement is more valuable to many brands than one with 80,000 followers and 0.5%. Brands pay for impact, not for vanity metrics. Your engagement rate is therefore your strongest pricing argument.
How to calculate your price
A simple starting formula: (followers divided by 1,000) times a base rate, adjusted for engagement, niche, effort and usage rights. A reel with elaborate production and exclusive usage is worth considerably more than a simple Story mention.
- Format: reel beats feed post beats Story.
- Usage rights: can the brand use your content for its own ads? That costs extra.
- Exclusivity: are you passing on competitors? Surcharge.
- Niche: high-spending topics allow higher prices.
Why multiple revenue streams pay off
Anyone relying only on sponsored posts depends on individual deals. Most full-time creators combine several sources: brand deals, affiliate, donations, their own products. For an overview, see Making money as a creator: 9 ways.
